Veterans who served in any of the following conflicts
are eligible to receive
readjustment-counseling services:
• War Zone Veterans – all eras , including:
• World War II: 12/07/41 to 03/02/46
• Korean War: 06/27/50 to 07/27/54
• Vietnam War: 02/28/61 to 05/07/75
• Lebanon: 08/25/82 to 02/26/84
• Grenada: 10/23/83 to 11/30/83
• Panama: 12/20/89 to 01/31/90
• Persian Gulf 08/02/90 to a date yet to be determined
by Congress
• Somalia 09/17/92 to a date yet to be determined
by Congress
• American Merchant Marines – In ocean-going
service during the period of armed conflict, 12/7/41 to
8/15/1945
• Vietnam Era Veterans (NOT IN THE WAR ZONE) 8/5/1964
TO 5/7/1975 (Eligible until 1/1/2004)
• Operation Joint Endeavor, Joint Guard, Joint Forge
– Veterans who participated in one or more of these
three successive operations in the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia-Herzegovina
and Croatia, aboard US Naval vessels operating in the
Adriatic Sea, or air spaces above those areas).
• Vietnam Era Veterans: 08/05/64 to 05/07/75.
• Sexual Trauma Victims: Include all veterans who
have experienced acts of sexual violence or harassment
while on active duty.
• Eligible Veteran Family Member: Emphasis is placed
on directing the provision of services toward improving
the quality of family life; which has been impacted by
the effects of PTSD.
• Global War on Terrorism – Veterans who serve
or have served in military expeditions to combat terrorism
on or after September 11, 2001 and before a terminal date
yet to be established.
Bereavement Counseling:
Counseling
and assistance is now being offered to parents, spouses
and children of armed forces personnel who died in service
for our country.
Also available to eligible family members of military reservist
and National guard personnel who died while on active duty. |
